Turkish government still want to revenge
A new indictment has been submitted to the Istanbul no. 33. Criminal Court of First Instance regarding Taksim Solidarity Platform, after the Court had returned the original indictment on the grounds that "the charges are not clear".
While in the original indictment Gezi activists Mucella Yapıcı and Ali Çerkezoğlu were charged with "establishing an organisation to commit crime", in the new indictment they are accused of "being leaders of a criminal organisation."
The new indictment regarding protests in Gezi Park charges 26 members of Taksim Solidarity Platform, including Ayse Mücella Yapıcı, the deputy chair of the Chamber of Architects' Environmental Impact Report Council and Ali Çerkezoğlu, Secretary General of the Istanbul Chamber of Doctors.
The State Prosecutor responsible for organised crime, Mesut Erdinç Bayhan, has prepared an indictment in which 5 people, including Mücella Yapıcı and Ali Çerkezoğlu, are accused of "being leaders of a criminal organisation," and "contravention of the Law on Rallies and Marches", the sentence asked for ranging from 3 years 3 months to 13 and a half years.
In the original indictment 18 and a half years had been demanded for 5 defendants. The other 21 defendants are charged with "contravention of the Law on Rallies and Marches".
In the indictment the Taksim Solidarity Platform's call for action was described as "incitement".
