Killing of women is a political issue in Turkey
Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Women's Assemblies has released a statement to condemn the recently increasing killing of women and children in Turkey.
The statement of BDP's Women Assemblies pointed out that the killing of women and children is not a judicial case but a political issue, adding;
"The government, the actual addressee of this problem, should abandon its mindset which legitimates and produces violence, and implement laws and policies to prevent violence if it really intends to protect women and children from all manners of sexual and physical violence."
Noting that Turkey is placed on the first ranks of the list of sexual and physical violence against women and children around the world, the statement said this is because of the fact that violence against women and children is considered legitimate and goes unpunished.
