HPG: Military Base construction a threat to chease-fire
People's Defense Forces HPG has issued a written statement informing that the Turkish Army is taking advantage of the peace process to construct new military bases and calling on Turkish state to comply with the peace process.
HPG said in its statment:
"The Turkish army is taking advantage of the ceasefire to build new military bases in many places. This is a breakdown of the peace process. Despite the opposition of the people of Kurdistan and the peace-loving democratic public, this policy is not being abandoned. This is a risky and dangerous stance."
The HPG said the guerrilla forces had carried out a series of warning actions against the construction of bases on Meskan peak and in Dersim, calling on the Turkish army to comply with the ceasefire.
HPG's statement ends with this words:
"Particularly in Hakkari on Meskan peak, the Turkish army has caused many injuries by stoning elderly mothers, and is persisting with its policy of building bases. Our guerrilla forces opened fire on Turkish forces on Meskan peak on this reason as a warning on the evening of 3 May. In the same way a remotely controlled device was set off by our forces against the construction of a military base near the village of Sütlüce in Dersim on 1 May".
