Kurdish language day
15`th May is the Kurdish Mother language day and it is celebrated each year with variouse activities..
Democratic Society Congress DTK Language and Education Commission held a press conference to mark the Kurdish Language Day, calling on the Kurdish people and institutions to celebrate this day with mass participastions.
Speaking on behalf on the commission,
Osman Özçelik said the Kurdish people celebrated 15th of May as Kurdish Language Day each year, adding that this year's celebrations will be marked with activities to last throughout a week.
Özçelik pointed out that mother tongue is a value of a folk, and that each folk is recognized around the world with its mother language, a condition for its existence.
Mentioning the fact that there is a multilingual living in most of the 193 countries in the world, Özçelik noted that the Kurdish language has not disappeared but on the contrary advanced itself in the face of the assimilation policies imposed on it for hundreds of years now.
Özçelik said this year's Kurdish Language Day will be marked with a week of activities including marches, concerts, panel discussions, and called on Kurdish people and institutions to own their language, and to decorate their buildings with posters and banners in Kurdish during the week.
