Kisanak: Aim is to increase participation of women in all spheres
The Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) municipalities have taken important steps to increase women's representation with the system of co-Mayorship.
They are also conducting vital projects in active struggle against violence towards women.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality have made crucial regulations in order to reinforce the local administrations.
Diyarbakir manucipality sets an example in Turkey, enhancing channels for women's participation in local governments.
The municapalicty also develops projects in order to increase the security of women in the city life.
Diyarbakir Metropolitan City Municapility Co-Mayor Gultan Kisanak said the aim is to increase the participation of women in all political, social, and economical spheres and to increase the self-defense of women to that purpose.
Gultan Kisanak informs that special departments have been established within the municipal administration. Previously women Policies Department was established, and recently a sub-department called Struggle Against Violence Towards Woman Branch Directorate has been established to help women to develop their self-defense.
Kisanak said their aim is to provide all the needed support for the women who were exposed to male violence and to contribute to strengtening of women.
