Öcalan: Law will pave the way to negotiations
Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has told a visiting HSDP delegation: "I find it significant that work in the coming period will have a legal footing".
The proposed provision will for the first time pave the way for the state to find a negotiated solution with social groups with which it is in conflict, rather than engaging in armed conflict."
The HDP delegation visited Mr Öcalan on İmralı island and spent 3 hours with him.
Mr Öcalan said: "I find it significant that work in the coming period in this historic process will have a legal footing.
The proposed provision will for the first time pave the way for the state to find a negotiated solution with social groups with which it is in conflict, rather than engaging in armed conflict. It is a historic step. I want to emphasise the importance of all social strata supporting this provision becoming law and the government taking notice of this support. This law will pave the way to social reconciliation and develop our democracy.
The securing of a lasting peace and ultimately a democratic constitutional resolution is of the utmost importance as regards the democratic future of Turkey."
Öcalan sent greetings to all political prisoners, first and foremost sick prisoners, adding that Turkey should remove this shame from the agenda.
Mr Öcalan said regarding the Presidential elections that it was important to involve broad sections of society, but that he had not made any impositions regarding the candidate, as claimed in some quarters.
He added that it was of the utmost importance that a correct decision was made by party organs and sent his greetings to the people, particularly the people of Lice, Cizre and Silopi.
