Clashes are continuing, witnessing reciprocal bombardment launched with heavy weapons.
In a statement about the ongoing clashes in the region, People's Defense Forces Central Headquarters Command said on Thursday that ISIS attacks are threatening the entire Kurdistan territory now, underlining that HPG forces will be defending the gains of the people of South Kurdistan and the Kurdistan lands.
The statement noted that; "Our guerrilla forces in the area will not develop a battle plan themselves as they will be backing the KDP (Kurdistan Democratic Party) and PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) peshmerga forces in all the areas of resistance. Our forces will determinedly play their role in the event that a joint action is carried out and an opportunity is offered to break the wave of attacks by the enemy."
ISIS gangs took over the Maxmur town, 10 km to Maxmur refugee camp and 40 km to Hewler, capital of Federal Kurdistan Region, on Thursday evening after two days of intense clashes. Kurdish guerrilla forces turned back to their positions after safely evacuating the civilians from the camp yesterday.
