RABIA IS UNDER CONTROL OF YPG

The Iraqi town of Rabia on the border with West Kurdistan (Rojava) has been liberated by YPG forces.

ISIS SUFFERS HEAVY DEFEAT
Following 2 days of fierce clashes, Rabia has been taken under the control by YPG forces on 5 August. 
 
While the peshmerga forces have retreated from Rabia, members of the Shammar tribe of Ehmedi Deham in the ranks of the YPG were in the frontline. 
 
Fierce clashes have been taking place in Rabia since 2 August.
 
A heavy defeat was inflicted on the ISIS gangs in these clashes, resulting in their losing their emplacements.
 
The ISIS gangs launched an attack on peshmerga forces deployed in the Zumar and Kesk region on 2 August. 
 
A peshmerga commander and 14 peshmerga lost their lives in these attacks while Zumar and Kesk were seized by ISIS.
 
On 2 August the KDP peshmerga forces withdrew from the city leaving PUK pershmerga alone in the face of ISIS attacks.
 
Given the situation, YPG forces went to the region in support of PUK peshmerga and took part in the defence of Rabia with these peshmerga.
 
On 3 August, all the peshmerga forces, said to be around 3,500 fighters, withdrew from the town.
 
Following this withdrawal the clashes between YPG and the ISIS gangs intensified. 
 
YPG forces stepped up its resistance and liberated Rabia from ISIS.
